The Commack School District is being sued by a longtime English teacher.
According to Newsday, Andrea Bryan claims she had to deal with "racial harassment and intimidation" for more than 17 years.
The Bay Shore woman is of Caribbean descent, and the suit says she's the only black teacher in the district.
The district says it "takes any allegation of discrimination seriously and as a matter of policy and practice, acts swiftly in response to any claim."
The school also says it's not accurate that Bryan is the only black teacher.
