News 12 takes home 4 New York Sports Emmy Awards

Among the winners was a story about a Shoreham-Wading River High School sophomore who wanted to feel like a true basketball player and Yale University student recalling a tragic shark attack.

News 12 took home four New York Sports Emmy Awards Tuesday.

Kevin Maher won the awards for Best Sports Reporter and Best Writing.

Maher and photojournalist Brian Endress also won for their story about a Shoreham-Wading River High School unified basketball player who hit the shot "he'd been waiting for" with the help of a slingshot.

Kevin, photojournalists Anthony Zito and Jim Lunning and graphic artist James DiGregorio also won an Emmy for their Cricket 101 explainer for last year’s World Cup on Long Island.
