The New Jersey Film Festival is approaching. The event gives big opportunities to local filmmakers and students.
Movies and documentaries that were produced all over the world will be screened at this festival, which will be held on the campus of Rutgers University. It is also a showcase for filmmakers in New Jersey.
The documentary "The Language I Speak" investigates how people respond to accents in American culture. Filmmaker Ana Cuadra, a Plainfield resident, says she began work on the project nearly a decade ago.
“The idea of it is…what ideas Americans have about people who speak in a different way, that have an accent,” Cuadra says.
“The Language I Speak" is one of nearly 50 films that will be shown at the festival. The festival is now in its 41st year.
The festival runs select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Jan. 27 until Feb. 25. The screenings take place in Voorhees Hall at the Rutgers New Brunswick campus.
All tickets are good for in-person screenings or online viewing.
