The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is looking into a traffic stop that turned deadly in Woodbridge Friday evening.
Officials say that Woodbridge police officers pulled over a van at a gas station on Route 9. The driver had a warrant out for his arrest from Nassau County, New York. Officials say that the man, whose name was not released, refused to get out and retreated to the back of the van.
Officials say that the officers eventually broke the van’s windows and used pepper spray, but the man still did not get out of the van.
Officials say the officers then heard a loud noise and found that the man died of an apparent gunshot wound. They say a shotgun was found inside the van.
