Members of a New Hyde Park neighborhood are asking the Town of North Hempstead for help with a pair of stubborn squatters.

Neighbors say the uninvited guests have taken up residence in an abandoned home on Brussel Drive. They first arrived in August or September.

The occupants have gotten a court order to stay in the home, after showing a lease to a judge. But community members say that lease is a fake, and the homeowner has been dead since 2016. The home is in foreclosure.

The matter will go back before a judge on Feb. 15.
