Residents in West Hempstead say an elderly legally blind woman in their neighborhood was the victim of an armed home invasion Thursday.
The neighbors say two masked gunmen broke into a house on Whitestar Avenue and tied up a woman and her grandmother. They say the burglars punched and kicked the granddaughter.
Police taped off the area for hours Thursday. They would not confirm details of the incident, only saying they?re investigating.
Friends of the women say they?re doing OK. The home was ransacked, but there is no word on what, if anything was stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
