A Nassau woman who had COVID-19 says she thought her fight with the virus was over, but now may have health issues because of it.

Diana Berrent tested positive for coronavirus in March, and almost six months later, she's dealing with new illnesses sparked by it like glaucoma and irritable bowel syndrome.

Emergency department physician Dr. Frederick Davis says certain medical illnesses are being seen in some COVID-19 patients weeks or months after the initial infection.

Recent studies reveal that several cases of people with COVID-19, including student athletes, developed an inflammatory condition of the heart called myocarditis even after they no longer had symptoms for the virus.

Berrent started a COVID-19 movement called Survivor Corps to help coronavirus patients and hopes their stories will compel people to be more vigilant with following safety precautions and encourage plasma donations.
