Nassau police announced Monday that a 74-year-old woman that sustained burns during a senior living apartment complex fire on Sunday has died.
The fire at 107 Central Park Road also killed an 84-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as Theresa Casale.
Police say Lynne Cirton was pronounced dead on Sunday by hospital physicians.
News 12 reported that Plainview firefighters responded to the scene on Central Park Road just after 5 a.m. Upon arrival, they found flames coming from the second floor of one of the buildings.
Eight residents were rescued. Cirton was listed in critical condition.
Twenty people in total were evacuated.
The Town of Oyster Bay Housing Authority, which runs the complex, told residents there was extensive damage from smoke and water throughout the building.
"Fire department did a phenomenal job holding the fire in check... absolutely heroic effort on their part," Assistant Chief Fire Marshal James Hickman said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
