Nassau police say a home health care aide was arrested and charged in the death of a man for whom she was caring.
Authorities say police responded to a call for an unconscious 83-year-old man at 105 Monroe St. in Garden City. They say the man had a laceration to his head and was sent to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Bay Shore resident Gail Godwin was arrested at the scene and is charged with second-degree manslaughter.
Authorities say Godwin “lost her temper” with the 83-year-old man. She had been caring for the man for about 18 months. Godwin allegedly hit the man on the head, causing him to bleed to death.
Police say Godwin called an ambulance hours later, after allegedly trying to clean up the scene.
