Some Nassau County police officers visited Woodward Elementary School in Farmingdale Monday as part of its "Cops and Treats" program.
Instead of wearing their police uniforms, the officers dressed up as superheroes.
School officials say it was a nice surprise for the students, especially in the wake of the accident involving the Farmingdale marching band bus crash.
"It has been tough for us, our kids and staff have struggled," says Superintendent Paul Defendini. "We have seen our fair share of trauma, and it is the little things along the way make the biggest difference for us."
The Cops and Treats program is designed so police officers can interact with members of the community.
