More than 50 speakers participated in a public hearing on a proposed lease agreement between Las Vegas Sands and Nassau County.
The lease would allow Sands to operate the Nassau Coliseum property as is.
As News 12 has reported, Las Vegas Sands intends to build a $4 billion casino and resort on the property.
A previous lease between the company and Nassau County was annulled by a judge, who ruled the county had not conducted appropriate public hearings or an environmental review.
The lease currently being proposed would not allow Las Vegas Sands to construct a casino. A casino would require a different lease, which would need its own public hearing.
