The board of trustees at Nassau Community College is set to vote on its proposed budget today.

The schools’ Federation of Teachers says the current spending plan will hurt students of color.

The teachers claim the budget fails to restore funding to the nursing program, theatre, dance program and biology department that graduates a mostly minority student population.

As News 12 has reported, the federation remained critical of what it calls the administration’s management and it’s shut down of dining facilities.

Statement from Nassau Community College:

The college budget before our BOT tonight has been well thought out. It supports students, faculty , staff and the administration. The programs of study mentioned are all supported by this budget. The comments mentioned by the NCCFT leadership are unfortunately disingenuous and part of there false narrative .
