The MTA will close its railroad grade crossing in New Hyde Park this weekend.
The crossing at South 12th Street is the eighth grade crossing to be eliminated as part of the LIRR Expansion Project.
The goal is to improve safety by eliminating potential conflicts between cars, pedestrians, and trains.
The underpass should be completed by the spring.
