Starting
today some Long Islanders will be making more money as the minimum wage has
gone up.
There are various increases across the state. On Long
Island, hourly workers will see a $1 boost to $14 an hour.
Some
business owners say while this may be good news for some workers, it also puts
a burden on small businesses struggling financially during the pandemic.
The minimum
wage on the island has increased by a dollar every year since 2016.
The
minimum wage is set to go up again next Dec. 31 to $15 an hour.
