Officials from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force have apprehended a man in Oyster Bay accused of child rape in Maryland.
Officials expect Jose Otero, 31, to be charged with more than 100 counts of sex acts ranging from rape to sodomy after he allegedly sexually abused a young girl. Maryland State Police say Otero befriended the girl, who ran away from her home in Virginia to live with him. Authorities say the girl became pregnant and notified her family, who then contacted police.
Police say Otero fled up the East Coast before his apprehension. Officials say he may be extradited to Maryland to face charges.
