Manhattan man charged in Farmingdale elderly scam

Detectives say Misael Romero, of Manhattan, contacted a 95-year-old woman several times this week, claiming to be her grandson and that he had been arrested and needed money.

Police say a man has been arrested in connection to an elderly scam in Farmingdale.
Detectives say Misael Romero, of Manhattan, contacted a 95-year-old woman several times this week, claiming to be her grandson and that he had been arrested and needed money.
The victim complied once, but ended up calling the police who arrested Romero.
The 27-year-old is charged with attempted grand larceny.
