A head-on collision between two cars left an Amityville man dead Saturday morning in Copiague, according to police.

Authorities say 79-year-old Harold Deters was driving a Chevrolet Impala westbound on Montauk Highway when it crossed into the opposite lane around 5:40 a.m.

The vehicle collided with a Ford Escape driven by 66-year-old Lyubov Kozak at the intersection of South Emerson Avenue.

Police say Deters was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

Kozak and his 66-year-old passenger were hospitalized with minor injuries.
