Man wanted for stealing money from Suffolk businesses in quick change scam

Suffolk police are searching for the man responsible for sleight of hand scams at two businesses.

Louis Pagano, 41, of Shirley, is wanted for tricking employees into giving him extra money quick change larcenies earlier this year, according to police.

The first incident happened on Jan. 3 at Urban Air in Dix Hills, where Pagano asked for change of two $100 bills and then distracted the worker with conversation while slipping some of the money into his pocket and claiming he was given the wrong change.

On March 20, police tell News 12 the man created a similar diversion when buying beer at Deli Pupuseria Salvadorena in Huntington Station, accusing the store of short-changing him.

Pagano made off with a total of $120 extra in the thefts.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS.
