A homeless man pleaded guilty to manslaughter for attacking and killing another man with a machete inside a 24-hour laundromat in Valley Stream.

Police say in March 2023, Robert Velasquez and Michael Oliver were sleeping at a 24-hour laundromat when they began arguing.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly says the situation became violent when Valesquez pulled a machete out of his duffle bag and slashed the victim multiple times, causing a massive injury with severe blood loss.

Oliver died 10 days after the attack.

Officials say Valesquez is expected to be sentenced to 21 ½ years at his next court appearance on March 15.
