Police say a man is accused of stealing a check worth $8,000 in Atlantic Beach.

According to police, Andre Herrera, 18, of Staten Island, was arrested for the incident that happened last July.

Police say that is when a 69-year-old man went to the Atlantic Beach Post Office to mail the check.

News 12 has been told the man was notified by his bank that the check was deposited by an unknown subject in Staten Island.

Police say they recovered video of the man taking the check from the bank.

Herrera is facing grand larceny and identity theft charges.
