A Baldwin man accused of DWI and a hit-and-run in Port Washington appeared in court today.
Cosmin Florea, 34, pleaded not guilty to fatally hitting Donald Mooney with his car. A grand jury indicted him on vehicular manslaughter and DWI charges for the August crash.
The 49-year-old father of two was hit and killed while crossing the street during a coffee break at his job. Prosecutors say Florea fled to Queens after the crash, where he allegedly told an officer who pulled him over that he thought he hit a deer.
The suspect's blood alcohol level was .13 about three hours after the crash.
Florea's attorney would not discuss his defense today.
