Mammograms and mimosas – that’s what were offered on Sunday by the New York Cancer & Blood Specialists in Nassau.
Dr. Yelda Nouri, a medical oncologist, says that more women were diagnosed with later stages of breast cancer after COVID-19 struck than she's ever seen before.
"I think it’s so important for all of us to get back on track with our regular lives, but also with our cancer screening,” she said. “What I found just talking with my friends, staff, nurses are that so many women were years overdue."
Nouri says mammograms are proven to be the most effective tool when detecting breast cancer early.
