The Las Vegas Sands may have packed up and left Long Island, but the business community is hardly giving up on plans for a casino.
Long Island Association President Matt Cohen says he is "optimistic" that a third-party can be found to continue the application process for a state gaming license and hopefully bring a casino to Long Island.
Opponents of the casino continue to maintain that Nassau County should explore other options.
The deadline to apply for a state gaming license is June 27 - and a decision on those licenses is expected by the end of the year.
