The next time you check out a book at the Lynbrook Public Library, you can say you're on historic ground.
The village's near-century old public library has been nominated for the state and national Registers of Historic Places.
Officials tell News 12 that the library was nominated because of its grand and decorative architecture and its ornate exterior.
"I feel it's a great honor for us to have this nomination, especially at this time of year. It's Women's History Month. The Lynbrook Library was started by women's group," explained Kathy Buschsbaum of the Lynbrook Public Library.
Buchsbaum says the library also has its original lamppost dating back to 1929.
