Many Long Islanders were visiting their local memorials on the eve of the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Some who lost loved ones take this anniversary as a time to come out and remember and reflect on their loss.
Bernadette Giuliani says she was taken back by a moving display of flags planted in Brightwaters, one for every one of the 2,977 people who died in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
On Wednesday, News 12 will be at several ceremonies to commemorate those who lost their lives.
