Long Islanders are making the most of the final weekend of summer, soaking up the sun at Jones Beach on Saturday morning.
With Labor Day weekend marking the unofficial end of summer, beachgoers say they’re taking advantage of one of their last chances to enjoy the sand, surf and warm weather before school starts and fall arrives.
Anthony Esposito of West Hempstead says the beach will soon become much quieter as the summer season winds down.
“With that end-of-season date, the population drops down so much here,” Esposito said. “It’s totally barren after this, so it’s nice to see all the people, the colors, umbrellas and everyone having barbecues.”
While summer is winding down, beachgoers still have the holiday weekend to enjoy one more taste of summer at Jones Beach.
