News 12 Long Island has learned that Long Beach will soon have a functioning emergency room for the first time since Superstorm Sandy.
The state has approved an emergency room laboratory for the facility run by South Nassau Communities Hospital.
The new emergency room could be open in days.
Long Beach officials have been fighting since Sandy to bring back a 24-hour emergency room.
