Long Islanders will be paying more for electricity, but officials say enhancements are also coming.
Long Island Power Authority customers will see a 2.3% increase in their delivery charge.
"I'm upset over it," says Huntington resident Maureen Lawrence. "Everything else seems to be going up and I don't think our services are any better than it's been..."
LIPA CEO Tom Falcone say the price increase is due to higher power supply prices and natural gas costs.
"Any increase is of course a concern for customers," Falcone says. "This budget continues to fund a reliable and consistent system, which is the number one thing customers want."
Greenlawn resident Gene Cook, who is also a Town of Hempstead councilman, says ratepayers can tell local and state leaders that LIPA needs to go.
He says LIPA is totally mismanaged and has failed its customers.
On average, people could see their bill go from $169 in 2020 to around $172 in 2021.
LIPA officials say they expect power supply costs to go down in 2022.
