A Long Islander will be skateboarding across the United States to raise awareness about mental health and youth addiction.
Chad Caruso, of East Farmingdale, will fly to California on March 24 and will skateboard over 3,000 miles back to Long Island.
The skateboarder wants to highlight the importance of having passions in life.
"I got sober about five years ago," Caruso said. "Ever since then, I've had a lot of clarity and focus, and I wouldn't have been able to come up with an idea if I hadn't, so I want to help kids have the same vision."
A total of 25% of the money raised by Caruso will go to Natural High, a drug prevention nonprofit that inspires young people to develop the skills and courage to live life well.
Anyone who wants to donate can do so at Caruso's
GoFundMe.
