A Levittown mother says her daughter has been in the hospital for the past 10 days with a vaping-related illness.
Felicia Cartagena took her daughter Grace to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bethpage after she was having trouble breathing.
Cartagena says her daughter is still running a high fever and coughing. The Levittown mother says her daughter has been vaping for the last few years.
"The doctors say it's definitely from the vaping pen, whether it's the marijuana ones or the nicotine," she told News 12.
Cartagena says the doctors are telling her Gracie condition has not improved.
"What [Gracie] keeps saying to me is that she doesn't want to die,” says Cartagena.
Cartegena says she hopes she can get her daughter transferred to another hospital soon where she can get a second opinion.
News 12 reached out to the St. Joseph's for confirmation of the vaping-related illness. They were not able to revel any patient information due to HIPAA laws.
