A Levittown street corner was renamed on Saturday after a late lifelong resident who was also a war veteran and served with law enforcement.

The intersection of Blue Spruce Road and Oaktree Lane was renamed Jack Kilbride USMC Way.

Kilbride was a decorated Vietnam War veteran and Freeport police officer.

He died of an agent orange-related illness last year at the age of 73.

"Everybody hit on exactly what Jack was. He was a patriot, he was devoted to his family and devoted to his country" said Virginia Kilbridge, his widow.

Kilbride earned two Purple Hearts and received the Navy Achievement Medal With Valor.
