The lead detective in the Thomas Valva murder trial testified that he heard Michael Valva and his ex-fiancée talking about deleting video on their home's surveillance system during the investigation.
Det. Guy Guerig previously testified that by the time he was given the name and password to the system, most of the video prior to 1 p.m. on the day Thomas Valva died had been erased.
A chronological timeline of the video that was available was played in the courtroom.
In audio from the dogs' room camera, Michael Valva can be heard screaming, "What is wrong with you," and "Wake up, are you alive, are you alive, are you alive?"
Michael Valva can also be heard saying about Thomas Valva, "He was cold, boo f****** hoo."
Texts between Michael Valva and his ex-fiancée Angela Polina were also read. The texts referenced Anthony Valva's behavior issues as the reason he was in the garage.
On one occasion the father told Polina, "My son is not going to be treated like an outcast anymore."
Defense attorney John LoTurco says the messages clearly show that Polina exiled Anthony Valva to the garage as early as 2018 and Michael Valva resisted.
"Michael loved his children regardless of his horrible decision making," LoTurco says. "He did not want to see Thomas die."
Prosecutors claim the father sprayed his 8-year-old son down with a hose outside on a bitter cold morning the day he died.
The case will continue on Tuesday.
