Two lines fell onto Long Island Rail Road tracks on Bethpage Road in Hicksville – causing cancellations and delays on the Port Jefferson branch.

PSEG tells News 12 that the wires fell just before 8 a.m. – one of which was carrying an electrical current. The outage has been repaired for most of the 500 customers who lost power.

For commuters, trains going east and west on the Port Jefferson branch have been affected. Dozens of commuters were stranded at the Hicksville station while they were trying to get to work or school.

“I guess power lines go down, hopefully it’ll be fixed by the end of the day so I can get home,” said Andrew Wilhelm, of Hicksville.

PSEG says they’re working to figure out what caused the power lines to fall. Both PSEG and the LIRR hope to have things back to normal later this afternoon.
