A Holiday Inn hotel in Rosedale is being used to house sex offenders, and it's not sitting well with nearby residents in Lawrence.
Public records show two Level 3 sex offenders who are considered violent and potentially dangerous live at the hotel. Neighbors tell News 12 Long Island that the New York City Department of Homeless Services partnered with the Holiday Inn to rent up to 75 rooms to homeless clients there.
The Lawrence community borders Queens and is less than a mile away from the hotel. Nassau County Legislator Carrie Solages says although the hotel is not in his jurisdiction, he's calling on state lawmakers to tighten sex offender laws.
The residents are asking New York City and Nassau County lawmakers to evict the homeless occupants.
