Kids in Somers made a mess and to raised money for cancer research this weekend.

It was all part of the national “Jump in Muddy Puddles Day" at Somers Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The kids kicked balloons, met Peppa Pig and generally just made a mess.

The Muddy Puddles Project was inspired by Ty Campbell, a boy who lost his battle to cancer.

Ty’s mother says the events raises money for cancer research but, more importantly, reminds parents to stop sweating the small stuff . "When he was sick he wasn't able to get outside. When we had a conversation about what he'd like to do when he feels better that was the first thing he said. So I wrote about this online and begged and pleaded with parents to let their kids have more fun in honor of kids who can't like Ty,” says Cindy Campbell.
