Members of a Bay Shore temple made a disturbing discovery Christmas morning. An 8-foot-high menorah was found vandalized at the Jewish Centre of Bay Shore, the pile of mangled metal and broken glass left for those entering to see. Jack Zedeck says he wonders if it really was a hate crime or just a random act of violence. Detectives of Suffolk County's Bias Crimes Unit arrived to investigate the vandalism and dust for fingerprints. Another menorah at the Jewish Centre of Bay Shore was also vandalized several years ago. The temple says the menorah cost thousands of dollars when it was originally installed and doesn't know yet if it can be repaired or will have to be replaced.
