Over 40 high school students in Nassau spent their weekend back in school to learn how to operate drones.
Jericho High School partnered with Aerial Advantage for an all-day drone boot camp.
Participating students learned the history of drones, knowledge of the equipment, and had the chance to earn a Federal Aviation Administration trust certificate.
The certificate would allow them to fully operate drones recreationally.
"There's a lot of people going out there and flying drones for the first time and getting it stuck in trees, breaking a couple rules and we want to help everybody set a new standard for the industry as this technology gets more popular," said Joseph Mazzola, co-founder of Aerial Advantage Academy.
"So our goal really is to expose them to drone technology because we're seeing more and more drones, as in almost every career that's out there," said Kim Libertini, of the Curriculum Association for STEM at Jericho Schools.
The teens also participated in a drone soccer competition.
