The Islip School District is on alert following a threat, according to Superintendent Dennis O’Hara.
In an email to parents, the superintendent says the threat was against the school district and the Islip community.
The man suspected of making the threat has been identified, but has not been located. His photograph has been shared with school security and other school employees.
Suffolk County police say the threat was made during a social media exchange between two former high school associates.
Police will be present when school resumes on Monday, and at three Islip home games Thursday.
The Islip School District is asking families to report suspicious activity.
