There has been a cleanup of toxic materials at the former Lawrence Aviation site in Port Jefferson Station for decades.

NYS DEC officials announced on Wednesday that a large part of the 125-acre property is clean and no longer poses a threat to public health or the environment.

The state DEC commissioner also said they are proposing to delist a large part of the land from their registry of Superfund sites.

Several officials stated the land would be a good spot for a solar farm, which has been previously proposed.
