Islip Goes Purple and Color Fun Run raises awareness for substance abuse, mental health issues

Long Islanders were out Wednesday sporting purple to honor those who lost their lives to addiction.
It was part of the Town of Islip's 5th Annual Islip Goes Purple and Color Fun Run.
Participants walked and ran to raise awareness for those struggling with substance abuse, mental health, and addiction.
It was also in recognition of National Recovery Awareness Month.
Islip town hall was also illuminated in purple.
