? Nassau County police have identified a person of interest in the fatal stabbing of a 56-year-old woman.
The woman, Meena Kohli, was killed in the Hicksville home at 8 Ingram Drive at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday. Her daughter, Ritka Hira, suffered cuts on her face and arms in the incident. Police say the stabbings were the result of a domestic dispute between Ritika Hira and her husband, 33-year-old Harpal Hira. He is now being sought by police. Ritka Hira was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition under police protection.
The Hira's twin, 3-month-old boys were home at the time of the murder, but they were not harmed.
Neighbor Nancy Ruhani says she found a disturbing object near the house.
?I?m driving my car [and] I see a knife in the middle of the street, which is highly unusual,? Ruhani says. ?I stop, check, make sure it was, went to the police and they surrounded the area.?
Harpal Hira was previously arrested in June for violating an order of protection.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Suffolk County Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
