A Huntington Station man has been convicted of killing a dog.
Prosecutors say Peter Galantino kicked Yorkshire Terrier four years ago after getting into an argument with the dog's owners.
The dog suffered skull fractures, a liver fracture and broken ribs.
Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly says the dog "bravely fought for her life," but the blunt force trauma was too much and she was put to sleep after suffering five heart attacks.
Galantino was released on $50,000 bail.
He will be sentenced in March and faces up to two years behind bars.
