This Memorial Day weekend, plenty of families are choosing roadways over flight delays and the Shore over traveling abroad.
Whether you're headed down the Shore or to a family cookout, brace yourself for traffic on the roadways this weekend.
On Friday, some drivers said it took them almost twice the amount of time than it should have to get to their destination. Those living about an hour away from popular beaches say it takes them an additional half hour to an hour to get there.
"We're traveling from Pequannock, New Jersey and we’re going to Belmar, New Jersey. Traffic is crazy out there. We just sat in like two hours of traffic and were only like halfway there," says traveler Paul Acquaviva.
Those driving from even further added another hour or two to their trip.
"It should not take five hours to get to LBI from White Plains, New York, but nonetheless, here we are," said traveler Susan Frankell.
Those planning to be outside may need a warm jacket at night. Gray skies could be followed by a bit of rain and cold weather this holiday.
"Our plans are up in the air because we’re not sure what the weather is going to be," said Frankell.
But others say they're enjoying these final days of spring.
"Enjoy it while it's here because it's going to get hot. So don't worry about that," said Joe Maccioli.
