High school students in Selden took part in a new type of medical dissection Friday.
The students used a virtual dissecting table at Suffolk County Community College to get a three-dimensional look at the human body.
The college's communications director says that the virtual dissecting table is one of only three in the Northeast and costs $120,000.
Peter Smith, a professor at Suffolk Community College, says the technology allows more people to observe at once.
"It's very restrictive who can have access to the cadaver lab... Students need to be able to not only understand where the anatomy is or what the anatomical parts are, but where they are in relation to each other," says Smith.
