The Hempstead school board voted last night to use $2 million in grants to hire outside organizations to help the district, according to Newsday.
The board says it will ask John Hopkins University and the Center for Secondary School Design to help improve the overcrowded high school.
Internationals Network for Public Schools will work with the flood of non-English speaking students.
The state warns Hempstead must improve or schools will be taken over by outside managers.
