The family of a 13-year-old Hempstead boy is at his hospital bed Friday as he fights for his life after a stabbing.
Police say the teen, who is a student at the Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School, was stabbed in the head after classes let out early for parent-teacher conferences. The stabbing didn?t occur on school grounds, but was close to the school. Many students saw the incident and say it began with a fight and ended with the stabbing.
The teen was brought to Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola and is in critical condition. Authorities ask anyone with information to call police. They add there is a reward for any information leading to an arrest.
