An Oceanside kickboxing gym owner is under arrest for allegedly running up fraudulent charges on his customers' credit cards.
Thomas Donovan, of Island Park, owns 5 Star Boxing on Lawson Boulevard. Police say the 39-year-old used the credit card numbers of three of his clients to make $30,000 worth of purchases from Home Depot. Authorities say the purchases included a snowblower, assorted tools and Christmas decorations.
Police say they also found steroids and an unlicensed gun while executing a search warrant. Police say Donovan has 14 prior arrests and nine convictions on charges that included grand larceny and forgery.
Donovan appeared in a Hempstead courtroom Wednesday, where he faced grand larceny, identity theft and weapons charges. A judge set his bail at $100,000.
Nassau police are asking anyone that may be a victim to call them at 516-573-5275.
