Gov. Paterson calls Legislature back to session

(AP) - New York Gov. David Paterson is calling fora special session of the Legislature to deal with the latest budgetdeficit and others issues that are expected to include a bill tolegalize same-sex marriage.

(AP) - New York Gov. David Paterson is calling fora special session of the Legislature to deal with the latest budgetdeficit and others issues that are expected to include a bill tolegalize same-sex marriage.
Paterson wants what is technically called an extraordinarysession on Nov. 10 that would address the deficit and to take onunfinished business. The regular session ended in June.
The special session is expected to include a possible vote bythe Senate to give final legislative approval to a same-sexmarriage bill.
Paterson is also asking legislative leaders to call a rare jointsession of the Legislature on Nov. 9.
Paterson will then address the Senate and Assembly on the needto act on the deficit and reduce spending.
