Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday a proposal to expand the massive Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.
"Just as our founding fathers and their boldness made the New York that we enjoyed, and we celebrated, it's now our obligation to build the New York for the next generation," the governor said.
Construction will begin in 2016.
As it stands, the center covers 2.1-million-square feet. The expansion will add another 1.2 million.
Cuomo's latest disclosure comes a day after he unveiled a plan to overhaul Penn Station, and two days after announcing a new Long Island Rail Road track between Floral Park and Hicksville.
