Gas prices have been steadily decreased, but drivers could
see them rise again.
The gas tax holiday for New York state and Nassau County
was lifted on Sunday.
The tax break was originally put in place in June when
prices skyrocketed over $5 a gallon.
Without the tax suspension, prices are expected to
increase 16 cents per gallon.
Long Islanders News 12 spoke to had mixed opinions about
the gas tax holiday ending.
According
to AAA, the national average is $3.21 a gallon. In New York, the average is a
bit higher at $3.39.
On Long Island, the average cost for a gallon of gasoline
sits at $3.18.
Suffolk County ended its gas tax holiday earlier this
month and it hasn't affected prices too much.
